Gore's ethics run contrary to mine, as well - yet I consider myself a Democrat. Why? WEll, it's complicated. I've grown up in the city, and a lot of the things I've seen here have made me very socially - welfare, gun control, education - democratic. Okay, fine - you say - but why, as your morals are so important to you, are you not Republican, since morally you agree with Republicans? Answer - I firmly believe that making laws about moral issues is not going to change people's minds, or, in many cases, their lives. Homosexual relationships will still occur. women will still have abortions. People's minds will not be changed about those issues except by Jesus Christ alone. Democratic social stances, however, can change people's lives for the better. And that is why I am politically ambivalent but, when I register, will register Democrat.
