The coot thread reminded me of a conversation I had a couple months ago with my own dear dad (who yes does consider himself a coot at age 75).

He asked me, "so what is this world wide web thing I keep hearing about?"

It was interesting trying to answer this question considering he has never ever used a PC, knows none of the jargon, etc etc. The only way I could figure to answer was (inadequately) on the abstract concept of it...
