One of the least fun things that ever happened to me was when I blew up the engine in my car. It happened three times to the same car. The first time I was 22 miles from home. The second time I was 60 miles from home and I figured it couldn't get any worst than that. So I had the engine completely overhauled and about a year later it happened again. It was worse, much worse, because this time I was at Rabbit Ears Pass, Colorado, about 1500 miles from home. After that, I started buying Subarus and Toyotas.
