Basicaly it is impossible to seperate Relgion and Politics, totaly, bacause we all live in one nation or another, and we all belong to one Church or another (or hold our own private belifes, and I've seen Athiests who have as much ferver about God's non-existance as Zelotes have for God's existance). We can't totaly seperate such large parts of our lives.
I was raised Catholic, now I'm more of a general Christain Agnostic with Catholic leanings, but a large part of my moral belifes come from my Christian up bringing. And I use those moral belifes in makeing choices, including who to vote for.

If you are interested in some more esoteric, or at least exotice, and sometimes down right bizzar thougts try this web site. Warning, if this site was a movie it would be rated at least PG-13, Some sections probly R.
