Dollywood is at the edge of the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. It's a different kind of theme park.
Sure, it has rides from bumper cars to a frightening-to-even-watch, upside-down roller coaster, but the main attrection is art, folk-art, crafts, country cookin' and shows.
You can watch horse drawn carriages and wagons being built the old fashioned way. You can ride a real steam train, you can see a real live foundry casting metal objects the old fashioned way.
You won't believe the hundreds of had stitched quilts, the barbeque, the wood carvings, the live bird show with owls, eagles, and hawks. Flowers and flowing water are everywhere. They even have a Tennessee water tree. There are shows featuring music from the '50's, show tunes, and yes, even country and western. You can eat in numerous restaurants, each with a different theme and different menu. And they add something new every year. Next year, an enormous water park!

I always buy a season pass, because I am a retired teacher and Dolly does so much for education in the area where she grew up. She also made the unimployment rate in Sevier County one of the lowest in the state. If she didn't do it, who would? No problem, Dollywood.
