I may have mentioned this before. I'm about to mention it again.

Long ago I lived in North Carolina. You could tell it was long ago, because I was under the age of ten, I played with He-Man toys and the average American had never heard of the Internet.

We lived in Charlotte. Ever been to Carowinds amusement park? We lived ten minutes from there. That ruled.

I went to public school then. I hated it. Most of the kids were mean. I had one friend from from my church who I waited at the bus stop with. One time a kid who lived next door to me came and threw rocks at us.

I learned to ride a bicycle in Charlotte. I still know how. Most of my childhood bicycle wrecks took place there. I used to ride down to the creek; there was a vine you could swing on out over the creek. That was a lot of fun. I liked to go hunting for crawdads in the creek.

We went to a little Southern Baptist church. There was a forest behind it, and we used to go exploring out there sometimes after church. One time I was out there with my sister and we saw a snake! We went running and I left my sister behind. She's never let me forget that...

The first and only time I ever went to the circus was at the Charlotte Convention Center.

What memories.
