Well, I haven't been able to read the Forum for a week...with Student Council elections and a Biology prject, I haven't had any time for RinkWorks! I'll have to try and get to the messages I missed sometime, but for now, here's what happened when I was gone.

Last Saturday, I went out to the boonies for my first Senior High Quiz Bowl tournament. The school that it was held at was way out there...they actually had a foundry by where we drove up. Anyway, it was raining, so there were fears that that tournament would be canceled because the school might flood (apparently a not-too-rare occurence). The storm abated, though, so after signing in, we went off to the first match.

I'd probably better explain the whole deal about my being in Quiz Bowl before I go on. Since I don't play any sports, this is where I get in some good, healthy competition. My school has a Varsity and a Junior Varsity team, and freshmen are usually on JV...but I got to be on the Varsity! I'm the only freshman on the Varsity team (on any varsity team, for that matter :-P)-the other three people are seniors.

Anyway, we went off the the first match, where I went completely tharn (no other word accurately describes it) and didn't answer a single question. For that matter, I didn't answer any questions until match three, when I got a math problem (I doubt Rain Man could've done better) and one about "A Confederacy of Dunces". I pretty much did okay for the rest of the day. We came out second in the second bracket, so it was great. Hope I haven't bored you with my long, winding tale of intellectuality.
