I'm much rather drive the car or go by motorscooter(just kidding about that). Even a train would be nice, but I have to fly because of the time factor. Wouldn't it be nice if we could just say "Beam me west, Scottie." Maybe next year.

Unfortunately, we will be flying in and out of Santa Barbara, way down south. Because we will be flying standby, the arrival and departure times are somewhat iffy. With a little luck we will go through Chicago and Denver and return through San Francisco and Chicago. The only way you can go anywhere from Knoxville (on United) is to go to Chicago first. The local joke is that if you die and go to heaven, you have to go through Chicago. I'm in no hurry to test the theory.

While we are in California we will probably drive up the coast at least to Morro Bay. It's kind of a tradition with us. I think I've been to California about 30 times, but I still get excited.

Did you feel that earthquake?
