...because most two year olds are not physiologicaly ready to read yet! Successful readers need to have good small-muscle motor control (i.e., eye muscles). Two year olds just aren't there yet. At that stage of life, they are still in the process of refining large muscle motor control--running, jumping, etc. I agree that two year olds are in their educational prime, but *not* classroom/book education. They have more important things to learn at this point! I can't believe no one else seems to have considered this yet.
