After reading the response to the "Hackers" review on BBBBM, I just have to tell this anecdote. Sam sez (roughly) that they used a *real-time* 3D interface to log in over the phone lines. This morning in my Play Prod. class, we watched a more-than-mildly-non-sequitur movie about special effects. It dealt with computer graphics, among other things. The problem was, this movie was more than ten years old! We saw "real-time 3D" (blocky, solid-color polygons that scroll) that took the "fastest, most powerful" computers only a little more than a week to calculate. :-} I was amused.
