Chinese Whispers is when somebody tells somebody else a message and everyone passes it down the line to each other until it comes out a completely different message at the other end. The classic example is the one sent via numerous messengers from the trenches in WWI. It started out "Send reinforcements, we're going to advance" and by the time it got to the final recipient it was "Send three-and-fourpence, we're going to a dance."
