Agh, I knew I should've looked at that preview more carefully.
That's interesting though, I never knew about such experiments. However, while primates may be more cognitive than I thought, most of the animals we commonly eat (cows, chickens, turkeys, pigs, sheep, etc.) are not sentient. That doesn't mean people can't object to eating them, but saying it's some kind of defense against the consumption of sentient life doesn't really hold water, as far as I can tell.
