I like the approach that everyone is taking when they respond to this post. Since so many people are responding with their own opinions, I think that helps ease the tension that would usually accompany such topics. I suppose I'll join the crowd and throw in my own thoughts.
> Abortion Wrong. It's murder. I really like a new law that many people are lobbying for. This law would make it easier on a mother if she abandons her baby at a hospital. Rather than punishing the mother, she would remain anonymous and the baby would be placed in a home with a couple who has spent years waiting for just such an opportunity. Not only would the baby be given a chance, but the mother would also know that she had given a life, not taken one away.
> Assisted Suicide Wrong in most cases, but understandable. I really don't like the fact that it can very easily be abused by greedy people who want their relatives to die and leave lots of money behind. (Or by those doing the assisting.)
> Death Penalty If DNA tests prove that a person is definitely guilty of a terrible crime, why leave that person in prison at the taxpayers' expense for years?
> Gun Control Good. Why does everyone think it's a "God-given right" to own a gun? I think safety is a much more important right. As long as certain people have guns, I will never feel safe. > God Yes.
> School Uniforms I guess they're okay, but I'm not too sure. > School Security If the school needs security, then by all means provide it. (Side note: A security guard at my roommate's old high school is now a "guard" on the Jerry Springer Show. I'm not sure if this is a good thing.) > Human Genome Project Amazing. As with any new technological or medical break-through, it will cause a lot of debates on the subjects of ethics. It won't be stopped (despite some objections), so why don't we just use it to the best of our abilities? > Extra Terrestrial Life Not sure. The seti@home program that searches for aliens is pretty cool, but for now I'll just let it do it's happy little alien hunting on its own.
> Plastic Surgery Why not? People can spend money however they please. It often boosts self-esteem, and society can always use that.
> Creation vs Evolution Creation, although college has really made me think about evolution.
> TV Partially good, mostly bad.
> The Internet Partially bad, mostly good. (Oh, but if you can watch TV on the Internet, then TV and the Internet will eventually be the same thing.)
