I agree with you very, very much. I disagree with Charon because her reasons are, as you said, egocentric, and seemingly focused around herself.

Also, her opinion is that we shouldn't preserve the environment. What? We have to live here and raise children here. You wouldn't live in a filthy, dirty home, that contains toxic chemicals in the drinking water, would you? Duh.
