That's exactly what I liked about Episode 1 -- how it thrust you right into the story, like Gene Autry's Radio Ranch (The Phantom Empire) or Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe or The Adventures of Captain Marvel. Neat stuff...

I always thought that Mars Attacks! was more of a parody of the great disaster movies.
