It all sounds pretty normal to me. Think of it as an adventure. I agree with your comments about United. I always fly United when I can. One of the reasons they are so nice is because my daughter works for them. She's one of their flight attendents, the tall blonde one. I think this calls for an airline joke. The airline in this joke is not United.
Passenger to ticket agent: "I have three bags to check. I want this one sent to Toyko, this one sent to Bombay, and this one sent to London."
Ticket agent to passenger: "I'm sorry, sir, we can't do that."
Passenger to ticket agent: "Sure you can. You did it the last time I flew to Denver."
