Here's something else that I was wondering about the X-Men. When I saw the movie, it was my first experience with the X-Men EVER, so I don't know if the comics answer this question:
Where do Professor X and Magneto get the millions of dollars that would be required to maintain their respective bases and hideouts?

A few other comments:

It was interesting that Magneto believed the X-Men when the told him they had found Senator Kelley, but didn't believe them when they informed Magneto the mutation killed him? Why wouldn't he have believed them? Or maybe he was so far along in his plan he didn't to?

WHY did Toad eat that bird?! It made a nice effect for the introduce-Kelley-to-the-mutants scene, but does he have an aversion to people-food or something like that in the comics?

I'd also like to know if there's a website or book that sums up the history of the X-MEN.
