Let's see, brief history...Born and raised in San Jose, although I spent a summer in Nebraska. Went to UCD as did my dad and brother. Now working and living in the East Bay Area.
I actually got my degree in Rhetoric and Communication at Davis before they dropped the Rhetoric part (Class of '97) so I didn't see what happened with it just being Communications. I hope you took Organizational Communication from John Vohs, though. That class was the best!
And, boy howdy, do I know some good Davis stories, mostly due to Julie Partansky. Toad Tunnels, potholes, grazing homeless, dark skies, cops in costumes, traffic circles, snorers, etc. But it is a great town.
I got used to the heat the summer I worked Summer Advising and it was fun to ask the incoming freshmen if they thought it was hot when it was 95 degrees out. They couldn't believe it when I said it felt cool out. It isn't much cooler where I am now.
Fer"it will be a pleasant 105 in Davis today"rick

(I like the semester system much better, and the Communications major at UCD is severely impacted, meaning that you can't get any classes. When you do, they're huge classes of 300 or more students.) > > I'm still in Davis because I was on a lease and couldn't be bothered to move. However, I'm adding to the population of Sacramento in about three weeks. Davis is a hilarious town, though. I love telling stories about the hard-core 'Davis-ites.' The toad tunnel and the mayor's idea of having fruit trees for the homeless people to "graze on" are always popular. > > What made you leave good ole' Davis? And hey, if you're not too far away, maybe we can rendezvous with Ayako. (RinkMeetings can get addictive.) > > Ell"I grew up 3.5 hours north, where it actually COOLS DOWN at night"myruh
