> No mistake. They were "sharp curve ahead" signs, specifically on the turns on off-ramps of Rt. 55 (I-91 in the U.S.). They were well off the main road, after exits that didn't have exit-only lanes. There were five or six in a row, and the EXACT size, shape, and design, except for the color, as the familiar yellow and black sharp turn signs.

Oh, those. The red/white ones all in a row. Those aren't "sharp curve ahead" signs, really. :-) They are "obligatory immediate sharp curve" signs meaning: "If you don't turn RIGHT NOW at this point, you'll fly off the turn in the dark and die a horrible horrible death like the last sod who did, before we put up these barrier signs".

The International highway codes reserve red/white markings for all motorists' actions that require "Obligatory action" -- e.g. you must obey directions from Stop signs; bus lanes into oncoming traffic; and red/white Sharp turns which, if you fail to do so, will result in your going off the road with lethal results. Yellow/black signs are "Cautionary Warning" only. In fact, there's two types of triangular "Yield" signs possible: the red/white signs mean "you *must* yield to onrushing traffic" at busy intersections, while the yellow/black ones simply advise "Yield as necessary".

...BTW If this is starting to get tedious for Sam and everyone, feel free to say so. :-(
