Knowing Kubrick, he probably planned on reshooting the whole dang thing.

Although I've never been a big Kubrick fan, I do have to commend the man for keeping Tom Cruise out of my local cinema for almost two years. I only wish he'd lived long enough to do a movie with Kevin Costner and Keanu Reeves.

And now I'll never get to ask him just what the heck he was *thinking* when he put that psychadelic light show at the end of 2001.

So what happened, anyway? I hadn't even heard he was sick or anything. Was this something sudden, or am I just out of the loop?
