antique fishing stuff

One of the things that sells well in my antique booth is antique fishing tackle. Mostly, collectors want casting reels and wooden plugs with glass eyes. So I go out and buy old tackle boxes full of old fishing stuff. Usually, an old fisherman has died and his family lets the tackle box sit around for years until I show up with cash.

But there is a problem. I wind up selling the collectable stuff and then I'm stuck with old hooks, sinkers, flies, spinners, plastic worms, jigs, floats, rods and spinning reels. For example, I have six Zebco reels in my shop. They're not worth much, but they work, so I'll probably wind up giving them to whatever kid shows an interest in fishing. Maybe they will want a tackle box, or a wad of jigs and flies, or a rod with a broken tip. I can't just throw this stuff away, but it is taking up space that I need for scooter parts.

I never had problems like this when I was younger. Most of the time, I didn't get to go fishing, because I couldn't afford tackle. How's that for irony?
