Somebody up in Toledo had a car accident, and put my social security number on the crash report. I ended up getting a nasty letter from the BMV informing me my driver's license was going to be suspended and possibly revoked because I hadn't showed up for my court date! I got it all straightened out in the end, though. I had never even been to Toledo before! > > Gri"n and bear it, and make a wi"sh(ny)
A similar thing happened to a friend of mine, only the mix-up happened because a California Highway Patrol officer switched two numbers in a driver's license number when he was writing a ticket. My friend was quite surprised to get a notice to appear in court--nine hours away. The interesting thing was that both my friend and the real law-breaker had similar names, ages, physical descriptions, and nationalities.
