When I was a kid, I used to make up stories that stared out simple and believable, but got worse and worse until nobody would believe them. Then I would laugh and say, "I had you going," or words to that effect. I guess I got socked a couple of times for doing that, but it was worth it. One time I tried one out on a big dumb kid and made him so mad he pushed me over a mud bank. By the time I stopped rolling I was a muddy mess, so I went down to the creek to try to wash some of it off. I started scraping mud off my shoe and there was a dollar bill stuck to the heel. Well, naturally, I ran back to the mud bank and started scratching around and soon turned up a half dollar and two five dollar bills. I dug all afternoon and by supper time I had $85. If you are wondering how all that money got there then you are my latest victim. Had you going, didn't I! Howard
