Before AOL diceds to block Alta Vista, why don't you go to their site, sign up for free access, download the necessary software. Use it as your ISP, and then just use your preference of browser; I think both Netscape and I.E. will let you download a copy from their respective sites.

That way, when you need (or want) to visit a site that the Orwellian AOL decides is bad for you, you still have a means of getting there.
