I, too, remember Richard Marius from the time that
I lived at Dixie Lee Junction around 1955. It was
somewhere about that time that I was a young stack
attendant at Hoskins Library. I recall that about
that time the stacks were not open to students. I
sometimes would hitch a ride with Richard to work.
At that time he was serving as an assistant pastor
at the Oakwood Baptist Church in north Knoxville.

I will always remember him as a very compassionate
and kind man who always took the time to answer my
e-mails even when he was busy writing a new novel.
I have read his books and will certainly miss him.
