In my opinion redneck refers to an attitude,
just like most stereotypical descriptive terms
refer to an attitude. I know true rednecks that
live in the hollers at the foothills of Appalachia.
The problem occurs when an entire nation
can clump a large part of the country into one
term. It's not right to do it with southerners, it's
not right to do it with northerns, westerners,
etc, etc. Regardless of race, class or
education level. * Thanks for the compliment.

of people in other countries (including me)
who had no idea before reading your post that
a US Southern accent is supposed to sound
"stupid." To me, it's always sounded like one
of the cooler regional accents of the US, and
all it means to me is "somebody who comes
from the US South and sounds pretty cool."
