If parents are so worried about what their offspring are going to be seeing on 'net, they should take the time to supervise their kids themselves. It seems odd that people should say "I don't know what a complete stranger might be saying to my child via the 'net, so I'll protect them with a program restricting them to a complete stranger's idea of what's good for my child."

A fun little obsevation/story about using those internet filter things. While my family had aol my dad, sister, and me each had our own acount or subaccount. My dad was set at the over 18 can go anywhere on aol. Mine as I was the person who set them up had 18and up acess too. My mom reading the booklet saw that we could limit my little sister's acess and had me put her on at the under 13 one. She then started reciving a flood of emails to porn sites, now my dad hardly ever got spam and I usually only had a few of those chain letters this really irked me. I told her to delet those emails and get me or mom before she linked to any adress she got in an email. we had put her on restricted because we wanted to keep this kind of spam away but she got at least ten a day. I went and changed her acess to under 17 but now she was getting about eight a day. We tried changing her screen name no good. I went and changed her acess to the over 18 and the emails stopped. My mom whose computer skills extend to turning it on had been calling up aol to try to block this and the only thing seemed to be puting so many parental control fine tunings on that she'd maybe be able to look at the kids area on aol she would be able to use any chat or instant message her friends like she want to and no email. All that it took was making her an adult to the web system. what a wonderful child protection system they have.

Wy"what fun aol was i'm glad we don't have it any more"vern
