This is my cue to repeat a catchphrase from my Psych classes:

Correlation does not imply causation.


Which is to say that, even if there is a correlation between kids watching violent TV and kids acting violently, that doesn't mean watching violent TV makes kids act violently. It could mean that kids with violent tendencies like watching violent TV shows. Or it could mean that both behaviours are caused by something else. Or it could just be a coincidence.
