I have a friend who's dad had an '85 Celica. Apparantly, his dad ran over a big rock one day and tore a hole in the oilpan. All the oil drained out and the oil light came on. His dad, who is not a stupid man (he's a pediatric surgeon) apparantly thought that this light meant the car HAD oil. So he drove it 1,000 miles before the engine seized. Personally I'm impressed that it lasted that long ;)

It had a 5 horsepower Briggs engine and would go about 40 miles per hour. She suddenly became very popular with the neighborhood boys. (She was 14) Several of the boys had mini-bikes, but her's was faster. She tore around the neighborhood for about two weeks and then the engine blew up. You guessed it. Nobody ever told her she had to put oil in the darned thing. I saw her the other day diving a car. She looked older and wiser, but still I wondered......
