Since he was beside her and not behind her, he was the only one aboard still smiling. I wonder if a barf bag would have helped.

A rollercoaster barf-bag couldn't be loose, that's for sure. Imagine a full one flying at you at a high speed from ahead, or falling on you as you walked below. Blech. Plastic bags with the bottom fastened to the front or side of the car with a long neck to reach the mouth could work. Hopefully they'd be zip-lock, or something, though, or it'd be the same thing all over again.
