I have never bought this. Peer pressure isn't the least bit important to me. I do what I do because I want to do it. I've talked to *many* other students who share the same opinion. Part of it could be that half the families in this town are considered in poverty, but it seems to me that most (not by much) of the kids I know aren't worried about what friends think. I do, however, know students who think of nothing else, and everywhere in between.

It's really not related to popularity, either. The kids who are pressured into doing something stupid are then ridiculed by the jerks who did the pressuring. The rest of us are just having fun. Take me, for example--I've never followed these pressures, and I'm the favorite for the ASB president tomorrow. (I had to work that in.)
