> Yeah! Those were so WEIRD! I always thought it was a treat if you actually got vending machines at the rest stops. Here, it's like a whole huge deal. It is nice not having to go so far for gas, but most of the time, all I need was to take a bathroom break. :)

And if you ever take a trip down the Pennsylvania turnpike, it's the same thing. Toll booths the whole way, and "plazas" instead of exits or rest stops. But at least the scenery is beautiful, driving through the Appalachians. As I recall, New York seemed a rather blah-looking state, at least along I-90. It gets better in Massachusetts though. And New Hampshire is positively breathtaking with New England scenery.
