Around '88, Louise Cooper had a series called The Time Master Trilogy. The three books were called The Initiate, The Outcast, and The Master. Good fantasy.

However, Cooper's next series (Indigo, a seven-book series) lacked some of the magic of the first series.

Hey, amazon.com has book one of the Time Master Trilogy for $2.36. Book two is $3.99 as is book three. Not too bad when newer novels go for $5.99 a pop.
