I've heard it before, but without the attributions to Rutherford and Bohr. I very much doubt that that part of the anecdote is true. In particular, Rutherford was president of the Royal Society (not the Royal Academy) and received his Nobel prize for chemistry (not physics), and at the time that Bohr was studying at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark Rutherford was conducting research at the University of Manchester in England.
