It was pretty neat. Without any spoilers for the movie, here's what you missed in the trailer:

The first half was shot as a behind-the-scenes featurette -- a shot of someone wearing prostethic arms and legs, making them about ten feet tall; many shots of ork masks and models of suits of armor; several people involved in the movie talking about how the technology finally exists to really make these movies.

The second half starts up with a wide shot of a marching army (here the camera switches from academy ratio to a widescreen shot). From this point on, it's what most people would consider an actual movie trailer (film clips). You've got the serious announcer reading the "One ring to bind them..." spiel over several shots of cast members doing things. There's the army shot, a close-up of two orks, a shot of the hobbits, a menacing shot of Nazgul, and someone examining the ring, holding it up by a chain.

The images just look astounding. If you've read the book, nothing in this teaser preview should spoil anything for you.
