A friend convinced me to be Elmira, because there is a little character on Tiny Toons that has red hair, and I also have red hair (although my driver's license calls it "Aub," short for auburn). The name stuck. But I eventually discovered that if I changed the spelling of the name, it was much more unique.

The Tiny Toon character spells it Elmyra (I know because she was also on one season of Pinky, Elmrya & The Brain---Now there was a case of fixing something that t'wernt broken)
