They can feel the vibration of your voice and it puts them to sleep. > Taking them for a ride in the car works too, but reading is safer, easier, cheaper. Babies won't sleep if they aren't comfortable. That means dry, warm, full, and burped. Come to think of it, that works for old guys like me, too. > Enjoy him now. In no time at all, he'll be 14. > Howard
Adding to Howard's tip, I have found that with both of my kids, a special song helps a great deal. I have a special and personal song for both of them; when they would wake up at absolutely-nuts o'clock crying, I could just hold them and quietly sing them back to sleep. My daughter's old enough now that when she wakes up from a bad dream, I just to talk her to make her feel better. My son though, the song still works like a charm; it's like he quiets down just to listen. Reminder: I'm sure you've already heard/read this but when you're seeing to those midnight feedings, at most, turn on a soft light, -no t.v. or radio. If the kid thinks that there's some kind of "happening" at that hour, he'll continue to wake up at that time, even when he no longer needs the feeding. They are creatures of habit and routine, and, therefore, very stubborn when it comes to breaking those habits.
