...depending on which version of the story you hear.

Similarly, the story of Cupid and Psyche comes in at least two different versions, one of which is about half as long as the other.
And one story has Perseus turning a giant to stone when another has the same giant still around to do a favour for Perseus' great-grandson.

I was thinking comic books, mainly.
