I spend a lot of time in California and I've noticed that it's easy to get Californians talking about state politics. I think I understand why.
You brought up a subject that drives me a little wild. People really do judge other people by their appearance. My daughter who lives near Atlanta is a beautiful blonde(I have to say that because I'm her father, but it's true.). Her husband is a rather dark-skinned Peruvian. Both are highly intelligent and well educated. They go to buy a car and they are treated like they are stupid. Some people can't believe that a blonde has any sense. They think that Latinos just got off the boat. They think blacks are inferior. And if you have grey hair, like me, they think your mind is gone. It isn't just Atlanta. I've seen it everywhere.
I went into a jewelry store in a mall in Knoxville and couldn't get waited on because I was wearing work clothes. I went home and put on a suit and they fell all over me trying to make a sale. I wasted their time for a while and didn't buy anything. Haven't been back since. I love doing stuff like that. Howard
