According to my father this years lead day is a special lead day. Besides the rule of every fourth year being a leap year this is a second rule. If the year ends in 00 (like 2000) it isn't a leap year, even if it has been four years since the last leap year. But every fourth 00 year IS a leap year. It just so happens that 2000 qualifies. Now if every 00 year lines up with what should be a leap year it will be 400 years untill the next 00 leap year. But I don't think 00 years always line up with leap years, so it could be much longer than 400 years before the next 00 leap year. I don't know if this is true or not, but it does sound cool.
