My girlfriend and I are looking at marriage in a couple/few years. I don't think I would be able to handle the "truth", it would be very crushing. I would much rather just not know. Its interesting, more guys chose that option that girls. I am wondering what you people thought about this. I would like to hear from someone who had the same choice as mine, and the rationale behind it.

And I'll tell you why...you see, I have a good friend who is going through a divorce right now, because his wife did just that...she hated him but pretended that she loved him for various and sundry reasons (one of which is that she's totally insane...but that's a different story)

Although he is trying to piece together his life, and his childrens lives, since her hatred affected them, also... he was married to her for so long that it's very hard for him to realize that she never loved him... and that she never will. He keeps hopeing (on the bad days) that she'll change her mind and come back to him.

I almost didn't answer it either. We've been married so long we each know what the is thinking before anything is said. Well, sometimes. That story that Ticia told hurts me just to think about it. I'm well aware that good solid marriages like ours are not the norm any more. It's sad. I got dumped a couple of times when I was in high school, but after 40 or 50 years, you get over stuff like that.
