Ok, the top place on my list of places to visit is: Yellowstone National Park. But only if you are a real traveller and like to get off the beaten path. Less than 10 percent of the people who visit Yellowstone go more than 100 yards away from paved roads. Less than 2 percent of the people who visit the park go more than a mile from the paved roads. There are a number of back country spots which are fun to see (Geothermal features that have swimming holes attached, a WWII era bomber, etc.) The catch is that you have to spend at least 3 days (MINIMUM) in the park. The average visit to the park is less than 5 hours---pathetic considering the fact that it takes about 3 hours to drive around the loop.

Other fun places, depending on your budget are places such as Heilbronn (sp) in Germany... a monastery which is fully hydralic and full of creative surprises. If you goto Europe, find out what is worth seeing---ask natives/military stationed over there. Don't rely on tourist books, you miss too much.
