Hmm. According to my German teacher, in Germany [at least; I'm not sure about the rest of Europe] swearing is commonplace everywhere-- school, church-- and as such is not generally considered offensive. Who knows if we will follow?

My problem with people who use twenty a sentence is the something akin to my problem with those who use 'like' or 'y'know' instead. Granted, 'like' is rarely interjected to fit in to a crowd or prove irreverence, but the effect of obscuring the meaning is quite similar.

Insofar as 'profanity it the attempt of a feeble mind to express itself forcefully' is concerned, it fits me fairly well. I'll admit, sometimes I do swear to make people who do it more often feel more at home, or perhaps it's the other way 'round. At any rate, as I reply to as many posts on this subject I can remember right now under one post of my own, I'd like to make it clear I'm not defending my language-- I can't.
