If you do well, you can rightfully feel as proud of the result as you would after doing well in any other exam at school. But it's not a measure of your "intelligence," and it's ludicrous and shallow to assume that these silly tests can even hope to measure something like that.

excuse me while i discuss it to death a little more.... this is somewhat different though, i think.

the SATs are just as bad of an indication of intelligence. i know some people who are reeeeally smart who just don't test well.... and then there are people who are smart who DO test well.... like my brother. 1600 on his SATs. grr.

actually, that's not my point. I really wanted to whine (not whine. complain? something) about the results of my brother's 1600. oh, i don't resent him at all.... really, i don't. i'm gonna do really well, i'm sure of it. but some people have to make a big deal of his 1600, and Brent (my brother) hates it. he doesn't want people to think of him as "walking 1600-boy". the worst offender is our youth pastor (seriously) who brings it up all the time in front of big groups of people. not only does it annoy brent, but it gets to me.... i've been doing really well on not feeling inferior to him lately, but that sorta makes me feel like, gee, well thanks...

also, Brent leads the bible study the youth pastor's son is in, and he (the son) has apprently grown a lot through brent's leadership, and the pastor makes a point of thanking brent for doing a good job. that's totally fine with me. but a few weeks ago, there was a party for the Junior class (MY class, yeah '01). our youth pastor showed up for it, and he Made A Point of telling ME to tell brent thanks for the great job he was doing with the bible study. i was like, Oh My Gosh. I am at this party because i want to hang out with my class, be somewhere where, even though i love my brother and all, i'm appreciated for ME, where nobody CARES that my brother is a genius. and the only thing he could think of to say to me was about BRENT!!! grrr.....
