Have you ever thought that your "intellectual loneliness" may, in fact, be self-imposed? You're claiming to be lonely because people don't understand you. Have you ever made an attempt to understand others or do you consider other people unworthy of any effort on your part?

I am not trying to sound unfairly harsh or critical of you, but I have a friend who suffers from the same feeling you described. His loneliness is very much self-imposed. He considers himself to be so far above the average person that he refuses to take the time to get to know anyone whom he doesn't consider his intellectual equal.

That is a sad way to go through life, if you ask me. He has very few real friends, and even his romantic life has suffered because of it.

Granted, you may be a very smart individual, but you need to discover for yourself if this loneliness you describe is a result of your own attitude toward people.

I think you'll find that the more people you have in your life, the more fulfilling your life will be. Embrace the diverstiy of people, it'd be a pretty boring world without it.

Your compassion/love/friendship with another human being should not be based on your estimate of their intelligence. More often than not, you'll be wrong.
