I believe life is defined by, and draws its meaning from relationships. Whether these relationships are familial, romantic, a realtionship with one's God, etc., is not important. It is the act and spirit of relating which I believe gives life meaning. The greatest joys of my life have been borne of relationships with friends, family, lovers, and my concept of the greater human community. The deepest sorrows, and pain have been borne of those same sources. Both add tremendous meaning to life. What else is there but our relationships and the events they encourage, the emotions they produce, the thoughts they inspire?

However trite it sounds, my faith in goodness and truth and love keeps me going. I believe there is more good in this world than bad; That at the end of history, the scale will tip in favor of kind acts, and kind words, and caring, giving hearts. I think truth is a strong guide in our realtionships with ourselves and others. I believe that truth eventually comes to light, and rights even the longest hidden wrongs. But greater than truth, I believe is love; Love in all it's manifestations within our relationships with eachother, and as the primary element of which our common humanity is composed. This faith in love is what sustains me through times when goodness is scarce and truth is obscured.
