quilts and scoots

After reading how happy certain New Zealanders are with their web sites, I am beginning to think I might need one. I could post pics of antique scooters, my 1932 Maytag washing machine engine, some quilts and ,why not, a few grandchildren. There are four generations of quilters in my wife's family. She's the third. The quilts are extremely colorful and some of the designs date to the 19th century. They make great pictures. Scooters are also colorful and photogenic.
I do have some problems and questions before taking a step like that:
1. I am a computer illiterate who doesn't follow directions very well. Can such a person operate a site?
2. What is the real difference between a web site and a web page?
3. What costs are involved?
4. Is "quilts and scooters" such an odd combination that people would be afraid to log on or would it attract too much attention?
5. How do you get started? I already know how to boot up and get online. Then what?
6. Other than maintaining the site, what other responsibilities are involved?
Howard
