Oh, playing Doom by myself I'm fine. Careful planning and all (after I've died a few dozen times), but I did a lot of playing against my uncle, who is brutal. While the monsters fall into patterns, I can't seem to grasp his mind. It's all reflexes there if I'm to get even a couple frags. I found it, all-in-all, very bad for my nerves. I also enjoyed playing Heretic for a time this summer. I'd rarely play unless someone else was around though...the sounds gave me the creeps! One day when I was playing I heard the tinkle of the icecream truck. The mixture of the Heretic sounds and that cheerful tinkle produced a taunting, dooming tune that sent my heart to my throat.

Anyhow, I quit right about when Quake hit my neck of the woods. I find Exterminator and Enchanted Forest very relaxing, "unscary" alternatives.
