Do you get paid when you're on call, or just when you are actually called in? Negotiate something like this into your next contract:
On call, regular rate
Called in, time and a half
Called in holiday rate, double time
Called in holidays after 8 hours, double time and a half.
Can you tell I used to be a contract negotiator?
I always got a kick out of how fast problems disappeared when we asked the school board to pay the tab.
