Larry, Moe, and Shemp were actually the original Three Stooges. Curly replaced Shemp, and then Shemp re-replaced Curly. After Shemp came Joe Besser, better known as the most annoying man this side of Adam Sandler. And in the movies, the third stooge was Curly Joe.

Moe, Curly (whose real name was Jerry and shaved his head for the act), and Shemp were all brothers. Their last name was "Howard." Coincidence, Howard? I think not!
